Midwife Appointment & 14 Week Update

IMG_1037Today I am 14+4 and I just had my second ever midwife appointment. It was a little underwhelming if I’m honest. There were a few contributing factors that made it less exciting than I though it’d be…

  • My expectations were a little high
  • Matt had to work and so I was flying solo
  • There was a 40 minute delay to the start of my appointment
  • A trainee obstetrician was sitting in and I felt a little out-numbered.

On to the positives! I got to hear the babies heartbeat which was fantastic (: My midwife explained she didn’t expect to be able to find it due to the dates and the quality of the doppler but she got it. 152BPM – a good result. I managed to record it but sadly can’t upload an audio file here.

All my blood tests gave really good numbers, actually better ones than a test I had around a year ago so that was a nice bonus.

On to my 14 week update, not a lot to report but here’s a little round-up.

wk14_sizeofbabyBaby can now squint, frown, grimace, tee tee, and suck his or her thumb! At this point baby is roughly 3 1/2 inches long (size of a lemon) and weighs 1 1/2 ounces!

Symptoms?

General tiredness is continuing but i’m able to get a lot more done so there are a few extra hours in the day.

Stretch marks?

None but i’m sure that’s to come.

Cravings?

Nada

Happy or Moody most of the time?

Generally happy but a bit emotional – on edge I would say.

This weekend I have my brother coming up from London to visit and my parents and another brother are flying over from Belfast so today I’ve been cleaning up and getting ready. Both my brothers are staying in my flat with Matt and I which will be fun. Edinburgh is getting into the swing of the season and It’ll be lovely to show them around the city.
